The masterplan for a new town extension to Clonakilty town in Co. Cork is based on the Area Action Plan prepared in 2005. The purpose is to provide a guideline for a mixed-use development on the existing GAA grounds thus setting parameters for the new town extension. The masterplan takes into account the pertinent grain, character and pattern of Clonakilty town centre, streets and open spaces. It extends the system of pedestrian walks and routes through the town and proposes a green belt of parkland at the entrance of Clonakilty. The scheme provides for town centre living, working and shopping.
